Richard Krasnow

Richard Krasnow received his AB in International Relations from The University of Chicago in 1968 and his JD from New York University School of Law in January 1972. After over 40 years of practice, he retired as a partner and as a senior counsel in the international law firm Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP.

At Weil, he focused on restructuring and bankruptcy. Richard’s practice consisted of representing clients ranging from businesses in financial crisis to governmental entities, covering almost every segment of the economic landscape, including Lehman Brothers; numerous retailers such as Macy’s; multiple airlines; satellite communications and entertainment companies; the automotive industry; musical artists; and an Olympic Committee. Richard has also extensively lectured for professional organizations both in the US and internationally.

Since retirement, Richard has essentially returned to college, having become a perennial auditor at Columbia, where he is a member of the  History Department’s Board of Visitors Steering Committee. He also has been actively involved with the Innocence Project, which is dedicated to exonerating the wrongfully convicted through the use of DNA and forensic science.
