American Conversations Series: The War on Terror Comes Home

Spencer Ackerman, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, spoke about how antiterrorism created the modern security state. Spencer helped Edward Snowden expose the NSA's illegal surveillance of American citizens in 2014 (hence the Pulitzer) and has written a book called "Reign of Terror" about the feedback loop between military expansion and domestic policing, especially of immigration. He's also got a new book coming out early next year about a guy who was recruited by al-Qaeda, disappeared by the CIA, and imprisoned in Guantanamo before being freed.
